> Over half (56%) of all Americans dream of starting their own business.
This statistics truly came as a surprise to me.
I don't know what is this percentage in India. But certainly the ratio of the (number of people taking a plunge into entrepreneurship) to (number of people having a great idea + number of people planning for the big escape) would be pretty low. I think in India the “Entrepreneurial Risk and Market Entry” theory doesn't apply that well. Because of lack of successful examples and lack of resources, not many aspiring entrepreneurs would be overconfident on their abilities.
Thanks for reference to Judson. Googled and found that the book is free to read on the web.
I love reading your words man. Keep up the fantastic work.
I concur that escape is the most rewarding motivator for making the big "leap". I've done dozens of interviews for my book about people who left corporate careers and started their own businesses. Nearly all of them were escaping from inflexible, limiting work environments in a desire to do it "their way". When asked if they'd go back, invariably they answer is, "Never!"
